Saudi-led coalition which has been fighting to restore the legitimate government in Yemen on Wednesday said Saudi air defences intercepted and destroyed a Houthi drone over the city of Abha in south of Saudi Arabia.
"After examining the debris of the drone, coalition experts found it was an Iranian-made drone," spokesperson for the coalition Colonel Turki Al-Maliki said.
He warned the Iran-backed Houthi militia against targeting civilians and civilian objects, saying coalition forces will respond and deter acts of terror strongly and in accordance with international laws.
On January 19th, the coalition said its warplanes targeted an integrated network of Houthi drone capabilities including logistic facilities in the capital Sanaa.
The coalition launched a military campaign to restore the government of internationally recognised president Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi in March 2015. The conflict has resulted in the world's worst humanitarian crisis.
