Tripoli (Debriefer) - Libyan rights groups have criticized local authorities and UN agencies for neglecting the fate of Yemeni child refugee, Samia Abdullah, who was abducted on 11 June in Tripoli.
Unknown gunmen abducted Samia while selling some products in the Libyan capital's old city, where she lives, the child's mother said in a complaint filed to local police station, holding the UNHCR fully responsible for her daughter's fate.
Since the complaint was filed, no comment has been released by Libyan authorities or UN agencies, neither the mother was contacted by anybody, rights groups said in a joint statement.
Despite the UNHCR and UNICEF knew her conditions and residence, Samia received no tangible assistance to protect her, including for example relocation.
The Yemeni abducted teenager is living with her mother in Libya since early 2017, and was registered by the UNCHR for protection, the joint statement added.
The armed men were in military uniform when took the child to unknown place, the rights groups said, citing eyewitnesses' account to the mother.
