Four people wounded as police disperse Yemen protests

SHABWA (Debriefer)--At least four people were wounded on Wednesday after security forces fired live bullets to disperse a protest organised by the Southern Transitional Council in in the Bayhan District of Yemen's southeastern province of Shabwa, a local source said.

Protests were held in the districts of Osaylan, Al-Saeed and Azzan, with people chanting anti-government and pro-secession slogans, the source said. They also called to finalise the implementation of the Riyadh agreement, the source added.

The UAE-backed council urged his fans to hold rallies on July 7, which marks the anniversary of the victory of the former Yemeni regime against the separation forces in 1994.

Large security forces were deployed to streets on the eve of the protests.

The local security committee said it would not allow unlicensed political events to happen and would strictly face any attempts to destabilise the province.
