The UN especial envoy to Yemen arrived Tuesday in the Kuwait capital in search for a solution for the Yemeni crisis.
Martin Griffiths met with the Kuwait foreign minister assistant, Sheikh Ahmed Nasser al-Sabah, to discuss international efforts recently exerted to end the 4.5-year war in Yemen, the envoy's office tweeted.
The meeting also addressed "chances for peace in Yemen," and Griffiths expressed appreciation for the Kuwaiti role backing peace in the region.
At 22-November UN Security Council session on Yemen, Kuwait envoy to the UN, Mansour Al-Otaibi, invited Yemeni rivals to Kuwait for further negotiations, under UN sponsorship, to reach an ultimate, inclusive resolution for war.
In 2016, Kuwait hosted peace talks between Yemeni parties. Negotiations lasted over months, but led to no solution.
