SANAA (Debriefer)--A Houthi official has accused the United States of America of training and arming militants in Yemen to fight Washington's battles.

The US has established camps in southern regions to prepare and arm Al-Qaeda members to fight its war, Tariq Sallam, the group's governor of Aden, said in a statement carried by the Sanaa-based Saba news agency.

Those Al-Qaeda members are now fighting in Bayda province, he said, adding that the battle has now become direct with the US in Yemen more than ever before.

On Friday, the internationally recognised government launched an offensive to liberate Bayda from the group. Its forces have recaptured key regions, killed many Houthis and are now advancing towards the capital city of the province.

The Iran-allied group ousted the government and seized the capital Sanaa in late 2014. It always labels its opponents as Qaeda or Daesh.
