Marib (Debriefer) The Yemeni UN-recognized government and the Saudi-led coalition have let down Marib and failed in managing the battle, political parties in the war-torn country said Monday, following the Houthi advancement in the northeastern governorate.
Marib branches of the General People's Conference, Islah, Yemeni Socialist, Nasserite, Baath and Rashad parties issued a joint statement expressing "deep astonishment at the coalition's performance and mismanagement its mission."
The government "badly failed in its responsibilities at political, military, economic and media levels, negatively reflecting on the resistance project to defeat the [Houthi] coup and restore the republic," the statement said.
While it is fighting a fateful battle, Marib was abandoned by the official government, the six parties said, holding the Yemeni leadership fully responsible for complications of this "shameful frustration".
The statement called on Marib people, in particular, and all the Yemenis, in general, to prompt local and national drives and resources and channel them so as to defend Marib and counter challenges threatening the national project.
The Houthi persistent aggression against Marib and targeting unarmed civilians with ballistic missiles and booby-trapped drones are the "most atrocious crimes contemporarily committed against residents," according to the statement.
This is the first stance of its kind, particularly with the six parties involved in the power-sharing government and enjoying close relations with the Saudi-led coalition.
No immediate comment has been released by the government or the Arab coalition in response to these accusations.
