Sana'a (Debriefer) Houthi authorities in the Yemeni capital on Sunday announced flights to new destinations via Sana'a international airport, as stated in the UN-mediated truce.
"It's a requirement to expand flights to other destinations," the Houthi-appointed minister of transport said in remarks carried by the Sana'a-based Saba.
The UN "needs to fulfill [this requirement] in reality to alleviate Yemenis' suffering in general and sick people in particular," Abdul Wahab Addorah added.
"Any longer extension for the truce is dependent on what is applied on reality, particularly allowing for flights to other countries [beside Jordan and Egypt]," he argued.
These remarks came at a meeting that discussed the airport's preparedness to operate flights to other destinations the truce is expected to stipulate in the future, according to Saba.
While the current truce provides for 2 flights weekly, deputy spokesman for the UN Secretary-General said last July that Sana'a airport could be connected to further destinations as part of future extension of the truce.
