Deputy Parliament Speaker Abdulaziz Jubari said the Houthi Group does not abide by agreements it has signed or care about peace because it believes only in military option.
In an interview with Sky News Arabia, Jubari said: "Until this moment, the group has been delaying the implementation of the Stockholm Agreement. It believes only in military option, an attitude which leaves the internationally recognised government with no option but defend institutions and the people's future".
"The government should shoulder its responsibility towards the city of Hodeidah and its people through suitable options," he said.
Yemen has been devastated by a five-year armed conflict between the government backed by a Saudi-led Arab military coalition and the Iran-backed Houthis.
During UN-sponsored peace consultations in Sweden in December, the two sides reached agreements on a ceasefire and mutual withdrawal from Hodeidah city and its ports, exchanging prisoners and easing the Houthi blockade on Taiz city.
But there has been no progress on the agreements even after the UN Security Council sent international monitors to oversee the ceasefire. The two sides have been trading accusations over failure to comply with the agreements.
"The government forces pushed deeper into Hodeidah city and was close to liberating it last year, but the international community intervened at the time and suggested handover of the ports peacefully," Jubari said.
The government responded positively to calls of the international community and ceased fire to give peace a chance, but the Houthi militia has exploited the situation to keep its control of the city, he said.
"Now, if the Houthi forces do not leave the city in accordance with the Stockholm Agreement, the government will drive them out of the city by force".
