UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said on Tuesday it had allocated400 million $ to livelihood support projects in all governorates of Yemen.
The head of Yemen's OCHA office, Sebastien Trives, said during his meeting with the minister of local administration in the Yemeni government, Abdulraqeeb Fateh, in the interim Yemeni capital Aden, that his organization will implement livelihood support projects in all Yemeni governorates without exception.
He pointed out that the UN organization is in the process of opening offices in Taiz (southwest), Marib (east), Mukalla (southeast) and applying decentralized relief work to facilitate the work of organizations in all governorates.
For his part, stressed Abdulraqeeb Fateh the importance of future programs and projects of future UN organizations in all governorates without exception, calling for the need to coordinate with the "legitimate" government in the implementation of humanitarian interventions in Yemen.
He stressed that dealing with the Houthis (Ansar Allah) in this context is contrary to international laws.
Yemen has been devastated by a five-year armed conflict by the government backed by the coalition and the Iran-backed Houthis.
More than 11.000 civilians have been killed and tens of thousands of others injured in the war. Millions have been displaced and tens of thousands have fled outside the country.
The coalition has been responsible for the vast majority of civilian casualties, according to the UN and international human rights organizations.
The conflict has caused what the United Nations calls the world's worst humanitarian crisis.
More than 24 million people, more than 80% of the country's population, are in need some form of humanitarian or protection assistance, including 8.4 million people who don't know where their next meal will come from, according to the UN.
