Yemen's Meteorological Center warned on Thursday of "bad weather conditions in the Socotra archipelago because of typhoon Pavan."
The storm is currently south-southeast of Socotra, and is moving north-northwest with heavy rains, thunderstorms and turbulence to the sea around the Socotra archipelago and east of the Gulf of Aden, the center said in a statement posted on its Facebook page.
The statement added that the wind will be very strong around the center of the storm and speeds from 65 to 75 km per hour with gusts of up to 85 km per hour,
The state of the sea will be very turbulent and the wave height between 5 and 7 meters.
The Minister of Local Administration and Chairman of the Higher Committee for Relief in the internationally recognized government of Yemen, Abdulraqeeb Fateh, directed the local authority in the province of Socotra on Wednesday to form an operations room and take all necessary measures and measures to face any damage to private and public property as a result of the storm, which strikes the south of the province.
