A joint meeting is expected in the few coming days between the Yemeni official government and Houthi negotiators at the Hodeida Redeployment Coordination Committee (RCC) in the western governorate.

The UN Mission to Support the Hodeida Agreement (UNMHA) chaired by General Abhijit Guha has decided to hold a joint meeting for warring parties in the upcoming days, informed sources said Sunday.

This would be the seventh joint gathering since the Stockholm Agreement was reached by two rivals last December.

The meeting is announced two days after the Red Sea city of Hodeida saw intense clashes near to monitoring points.

Last October, the UNMHA successfully established five checkpoints at frontlines in Hodeida, where liaison officers from both parties and UN monitors were deployed, to monitor ceasefire in the Yemeni port city.

Parties to the 4.7-year war in Yemen, after 8-day peace talks in Sweden, reached on the 13th of last December an agreement providing for ceasefire in Hodeida and redeployment of both sides' forces.

Since 18 December 2018, the truce has supposedly been applied, with both sides trading blames for trying to thwart the deal.
