Emirati airplanes have airlifted people wanted by Yemeni security authorities, Socotra governor said Saturday.

"Emirati elements, of those who continue to commit activities under humanitarian cover, have stormed into Socotra airport by force and freed people wanted over charges of destabilizing security and entering without official visas," Ramzi Mahroos added in a letter to the Yemeni President.

"The attackers have got on an Emirati plane without undergoing any procedures at the airport, and the plane has taken off without permission from the tower," the governor told President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

They have raided the airport and helped the wanted escape although the facility is secured by Saudi duty forces and a unit of the Yemeni First Infantry Brigade, and despite authorities' instructions to guard against any raid and apply the law, he added.

Last October, Socotra governor issued a decree prohibiting foreigners from entering without visas, angering the United Arab Emirates whose nationals and workers used to enter the island without visas or coordination with authorities there.
