Al-Jawf governor has been killed in battles between forces of the Yemeni internationally-recognized government and Houthi group, according to reports on Sunday from the Yemeni northern governorate at Saudi borders.
No official statement has been issued by the Yemeni government or its defense ministry confirming or denying the death of General Ameen al-Okaimi.
Separately, the northern governorate of al-Jawf has been seized by the Houthi group, military sources said Sunday, after several weeks of fierce fighting with the official government army.
"Al-Hazm city, the provincial capital of al-Jawf, was fully overthrown, one day after the al-Ghail district's takeover," the sources told Debriefer.
Earlier on Sunday, Al-Jazeera reported that the Houthi fighters entered al-Hazm city following government troops' withdrawal.
