The United Nations has received from the Yemeni official government and Houthi group positive signs on ceasefire initiative introduced by the UN special envoy for Yemen, deputy spokesman for UN Secretary-General has said.
"We have positive signs on proposals presented Friday by Martin Griffiths, and he is now in contact with the Yemeni government and Houthis" in this regard, Farhan Haq added in a video press conference.
The UN official rejected to give more details on these positive signs received from parties to Yemen's conflict.
"Today, I shared with the parties revised proposals for agreements on a nationwide ceasefire" in Yemen, Envoy Griffiths said Friday.
The proposed agreements are balanced, reflect principal interests of all parties, and represent an actual, inclusive package helping Yemen avoid violence and past suffering and take historical step towards peace, he added.
The proposals include "economic and humanitarian measures to alleviate Yemenis' suffering, build confidence between parties and help Yemen respond to COVID-19; and resuming the political process urgently," the UN envoy said.
