Riyadh (Debriefer) - The Houthis have "committed heinous crime," the Yemeni information minister tweeted on Monday, after the group "targeted civilian houses in Doraihimi district," in the western port city of Hodeida.
Houthi artillery shelled the town, leaving 15 civilians killed or injured, including women and children, Moammar al-Eryani added, dubbing the attack as "plenary war crime.
"This atrocious crime comes as part of the series of crimes committed by the Houthi group against civilians since its capture of Sana'a City."
The Yemeni minister accused the Houthis of killing tens of thousands of civilians, amid international unjustified silence.
He called on the UN, its envoy for Yemen and international monitoring mission to obviously deplore this "crime.. and stop the Houthi crimes and violations against Hodeida ceasefire.
On Sunday, Yemen's foreign ministry called for international denunciation of the Houthi crime that killed 9 civilians and wounded 6 others in Doraihimi.
"This crime is a blatant breach of all the international humanitarian laws and principles .. and of Hodeida deal," the ministry added in a statement.
Earlier on Sunday, the UN Mission to Support the Hodeida Agreement (UNMHA) called on the Yemeni joint forces and the Houthis to practice self-restraint and to stop escalation in Hodeida.
UNMHA is continually involved with warring parties, and exerting every effort to secure environment suitable for renewed progress, chairman of the mission, General Abhijit Guha, said.
He called on the two sides to honor their commitments, solve conflicts through proper joint mechanisms – not battlefield – and to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure.
