Riyadh (Debriefer) - Yemen and the United States face joint challenges and cooperate in combating terrorism and curbing Iran's devastating ambitions in the region, the Yemeni Vice-president told Assistant to the US Foreign Secretary for Near Eastern affairs and US ambassador to Yemen.
The Iranian-backed Houthi group persistently exploits Stockholm pact in military escalation and multiplying the ballistic missile and drone attacks on Yemeni and Saudi cities, Ali Muhsin al-Ahmar added at meeting in Riyadh with David Schenker and Christopher Henzel.
By these acts, the Houthis defy the UN resolutions, which he said need to be saved by international community's pressures on the group and its supporters in Tehran.
The meeting discussed available peace prospects, efforts exerted in this regard, and Yemen-US mutual cooperation, particularly in combating terrorism, according to the Riyadh-based Saba.
Yemeni VP called for blacklisting the Houthis as a terrorist group, in order to maintain global stability.
The official government's priority is to accelerate the Riyadh Agreement application so as to unify the Yemeni ranks, Muhsin added.
