ADEN (Debriefer)--The toll from the explosions at Aden airport on Wednesday has increased to 26 dead and 59 injured, including officials, soldiers and civilians, a source told Debriefer on condition of anonymity.
It is expected to rise further because some of the victims were rushed to hospitals in critical condition, the source said.
Other sources said deputy labour minister Yasmin Al-Awadhi was killed in the explosions which coincided with the arrival of the new government at the airport in Yemen's interim capital Aden.
She was among the officials receiving the government, one of her relatives said.
Deputy youth and sports minister Munir Al-Wajih and deputy transport minister Nasser Al-Sharif were injured, a security source said.
Earlier today, prime minister Maeen Abdulamlik said he and the members of the government were unhurt and transported to the Al-Maasheeq presidential palace safely.
The incident will make us more determined to do our duties, end the coup and restore the state, he wrote on Twitter.
The UN envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths condemned the attack and offered sincere condolences to those who lost loved ones.
"I wish the Cabinet strength in facing the difficult tasks ahead. This unacceptable act of violence is a tragic reminder of the importance of bringing Yemen urgently back on the path towards peace," Griffiths said in a press release.
