Taiz (Debriefer) - Hundreds of Taiz people on Thursday staged a rally calling for ouster of the corrupted officials in the Yemeni southwestern governorate held by the UN-recognized government.
Organized by activists, the protest called for local corrupted officials to be fired and held accountable, and for technocrats be selected when officials are appointed, and deplored the persistent absence of services.
Last Monday, a similar rally led Taiz governor to suspend the two provincial directors of transportation and electricity and entrusted their work to others.
Other officials were also referred to the Public Property Prosecution over charges of corruption.
Taiz local authority previously promised reforms to services, blaming the central government for failure to pay appropriate attention to the most populated governorate in the war-torn country.
