SHABWA (Debriefer)--Al-Qaeda released on Tuesday five army officers via tribal mediation in Yemen's province of Bayda, military sources said.
The officers, from the criminal investigation department, were detained by militants in mid-June in the area of Khourah in the southeastern province of Shabwa and taken to Bayda, the sources said, without giving more details.
The forces of the internationally recognised government have advanced in Bayda in the past few days, retaking control of key regions, within a massive offensive to liberate the province from the Iran-allied Houthi group.
