Shabwa (Debriefer) Fierce battles broke out on Wednesday between the Yemeni UN-recognized government troops and the Iranian-backed Houthi fighters in the eastern governorate of Shabwa.
The government troops started a massive attack in order to recapture sites recently seized by the Houthi group in Osailan district west Shabwa, military sources said.
The national army is fighting fierce battles in Haid al-Alam, al-Safra'a and al-Saleem in Osailan, the sources added.
Heavy, medium and light weapons are used in the violently persistent fighting, according to the sources.
Last Sunday, the Houthi group said its fighters took control of Osailan, Baihan and Ein districts in Shabwa governorate.
While the group gave no details on the date, local sources said the Houthi capture of the three districts was late last September.
