Two draft resolutions condemning Houthi violations have been presented at the US Congress, saidthe Yemeni embassy in the United States, calling on the international community to pressure Iran into stopping its "broad interferences that destabilize security in the Middle East.
Yemen has been racked by a 4-year bloody conflictbetween the internationally-recognized Yemeni government's forces, backed by a Saudi-led coalition, and the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels who ousted the government in 2014.
The Yemeni government and the coalition are accusing the Houthis of receiving Iranian support, a charge denied by Tehran.
But, the Yemeni mission said the "Iranian regime's interference in Yemen and its support for Houthi militias are unacceptable, and the World should condemn.
"We call the international community to seriously put political, military and economic pressures on Iran to stop its expansionist interferences," the embassy added, welcoming the two US drafts.
The resolutions state that the US would not tolerate war crimes and human rights violations committed by the Houthi group in Yemen, including the random use of mines, child recruits and misappropriation of humanitarian aid.
Yemen 4-year war has left tens of thousands killed, hundreds of thousands injured, and 3 million displaced, triggering what the UN calls the world's worst humanitarian crisis, with most of the population in need for a type of humanitarian aid and immediate protection, including 14 million people risking famine and some 1.8 million children suffering malnutrition.
