RIYADH (Debriefer)--A Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen said it has intercepted three ballistic missiles fired by the Houthi group towards Saudi Arabia.
One of the missiles was fired towards Khamis Mushait city in southwest and the two others towards the southern provinces of Najran and Jizan, Alarabiya TV reported on Wednesday.
The Iran-aligned Houthis are deliberately firing missiles and drones at civilians and civilian objects, The TV said, quoting a statement by the coalition.
On Wednesday alone, three ballistic missiles and six explosive drones were intercepted and shot down over Saudi Arabia, it said.
Earlier this week, the Houthi group said its air force had attacked sensitive targets at Saudi Abha airport.
Attacks deep in Saudi Arabia come within our response to continued Saudi-led airstrikes and blockade on Yemen, said the group's military spokesman, Yahya Sari'a.
On Wednesday, the US embassy in Riyadh advised "American citizens to continue to exercise increased caution in Saudi Arabia due to terrorism and the threat of missile and drone attacks on civilian targets".
