Washington (Debriefer) - The United States on Thursday said its forces seized Iranian weapons on the Arabian Sea en route to Houthis in Yemen.
Two US warships seized 171 guided anti-tank missiles, 8 surface-to-air missiles and other missile components during two separate operations in the Arabian Sea, Assistant Attorney General for the National Security Division said.
On 20 August, the US National Security Division and the Attorney General's office for the District of Columbia filed a complaint at the district's court to seize these arms, John Demers added.
Washington also sold 1.1 million barrels of previously seized Iranian oil that was lauded on four foreign-flagged oil tankers en route to Venezuela, the Justice Department said.
The moves are the largest governmental seizures of fuel and arms shipments from Iran, the Department added.
This comes hours after the US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, deplored the Houthi attempts to target Saudi Arabia.
