RIYADH (Debriefer)--Yemen's internationally recognised government on Saturday ordered the local authorities to address growing chaos and security in Taiz province.
At a meeting with governor Nabil Shamsan, prime minister Maeen Abdulmalik urged to activate the public institutions and prevent interference in their duties.
Those responsible for chaos and crimes should be hunted, and attacks on public and private properties should be addressed, he said, pointing out that the government gives priority to Taiz and that the rule of law should be imposed and the situation normalised in it immediately.
Taiz, in the southwest, is Yemen's cultural capital and most densely populated province. It is divided between the Saudi-backed government and the Houthi group.
The crime rates and chaos in it have increased to unprecedented levels in recent years, with gangsters and pro-government militias fighting in streets amid persistent failure of the local authorities to bring the situation under control.
