Sana'a (Debriefer) - The Houthi group on Friday welcomed Italy decision temporarily halting arms sales to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, since it supports peace process.
"Italy's announcement halting arms sales to countries, which are carrying out aggression on Yemen, is a positive step," Houthi spokesman tweeted.
The Italian move "contribute to the protection of civilians and support for peace process," Mohamed Abdul Salam added.
Earlier on Friday, the Italian foreign minister said his country would pause arms sales to Riyadh and Abu Dhabi due to their participation in Yemen's war.
Italy government's work is inspired basic values and principles, Luigi Di Maio added on Facebook, describing their decision as duty and clear message of peace from Italy.
Rome's move would hinder the exportation of 12,700 missiles to Saudi Arabia, the Italian Network for Peace and Disarmament.
No immediate comment has been issued by Saudi or Emirati authorities on the Italian decision.
The new US administration also temporarily suspended arms sales to the two Gulf countries leading military campaign in Yemen since March 2015.
