Taiz (Debriefer) - Unknown armed men on Friday assassinated a senior security officer affiliated to Yemen's pro-government Guards of the Republic led by Tariq Saleh, nephew of the late president.
The gunmen opened fire at the supply officer in the 'National Resistance' fourth brigade, Colonel Abd Rabbu Mutaher, in the western port city of Mocha, said local sources.
Last December, unknown gunmen assassinated Major Nader al-Sharjabi, procurement officer in Guards of the Republic brigades, in Aden.
A report by the UN Security Council's sanction committee, dubbed these brigades, along with the Southern Transitional Council's and Houthi group's forces, as armed groups out of the Yemeni legitimate government authority.
These forces pose obstructions to the application of UNSC resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216, according to the report.
Tariq Saleh, commander of the Guards of the Republic, enhances his political and military power in the Yemeni western coast, with support from the United Arab Emirates, the report read.
