ADEN (Debriefer)--A powerful explosion rocked the district of Mualla in Yemen's interim capital Aden on Monday.
An explosive device went off at the car of the chief of the emergency battalion Akram Al-Awthali while he was at the government compound, sources said. Al-Awthali was injured and rushed to hospital, the sources said, without giving more details.
It was the latest in a series of explosions since the government arrived in the city on 30th December.
No group has claimed responsibility for the explosion.
Deteriorating security in the city comes amid tensions between partners in the new government, the UAE-backed southern transitional council and president Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi, over appointments of senior officials by Hadi.
The council is accusing other partners in the government of obstructing the Riyadh agreement which was signed by it and the former internationally recognised government in late 2019.
