Aden (Debriefer) - The UN Mission to Support the Hodeida Agreement (UNMHA) is hostage with the Houthi group, the Yemeni UN-recognized government said Saturday in a statement by its foreign ministry.
The statement reiterated its call on the UN to reconsider the situation of its UNMHA, as the Houthis "hindered the application of Resolution 2452."
The foreign ministry called on the UN Security Council to bear its responsibility, apply its resolutions and punish the Houthi group whose daily practices portend a comprehensive escalation undermining the peace efforts and serving Iran's destructive agenda in the region.
The Houthis fired Katyusha missiles at government-held areas and housing buildings in al-Manzar quarter in Hodeida city, leaving al-Qasi Mosque damaged, the statement claimed.
Their "attack on Marib city hosting millions of IDPs, while persistently targeting Saudi lands and committing violations in Hodeida affirm that the Houthis don't care for pacts or believe in peace," it added.
By these repeated violations, the group presses for inclusive escalation in different flashpoints and wants to obstruct international efforts aimed at ceasefire and peace in Yemen, according to the foreign ministry.
Earlier on Saturday, the Yemeni Joint Forces and the Houthi group traded blames for breaching the UN-brokered truce in Hodeida.
While the pro-government accused the Houthis of committing 217 violations including assaults against civilian objects, the latter blamed the former for 233 breaches.
The UNMHA leads a coordination committee tasked with redeploying the government and Houthi troops in the Red Sea city.
