Aden (Debriefer) - The Houthis have sent a false letter bearing the Yemeni official foreign ministry's logo to "deceive the international public opinion" on the fire that affected African migrants in Sana'a-based migrant detention center, the Yemeni foreign minister said.
All the information issued by the Yemeni foreign ministry to the UN state members will be circulated via Yemen's permanent mission to the UN, FM Ahmed Bin Mubarak added in a letter sent to all the Yemeni diplomatic missions.
Last Sunday, the UN said a fire in a detention center in the Yemeni capital left tens of African migrants and guards killed and injured.
The cause behind the fire is still unknown, IOM director for MENA said, warning that the fire is one of the many risks faced by migrants during the last six years of Yemen's crisis.
The Houthi group was behind the death and injury of tens of African migrants, Mowatana for human rights said quoting eyewitnesses as saying that "Houthi elements closed the hangar's door and began firing projectiles from the hangar's windows, making the fire spread fast."
The Houthi group denied access to the injured, and prevents the circulation of information on the fire and its victims, the organization added.
The Yemeni UN-recognized government called for international transparent and independent probe to unveil the incident's details and hold those involved accountable.
