Aden (Debriefer) - Its commander's recent remarks mean that the Quds Force fights with the Iranian-backed Houthi group in Yemen's ongoing war, the Yemeni information minister tweeted on Wednesday.
Ismael Qaani's remarks, at the funeral of his deputy Mohamed Hejazi, are a "new official confession from the Iranian regime of field involvement in fighting alongside the Houthis, as well as smuggling the arms and experts" to the group, Moammar al-Eryani said.
The remarks confirm Iran's involvement in the Houthi coup, its blatant violation of international laws and conventions by interfering in a UN state member's affairs, and its flagrant challenge of international will and resolutions, he added.
The minister called on the international community, particularly the UNSC's permanent members, to condemn the Iranian meddling in Yemen and attempts to transform Yemen into a base to apply its expansionist agenda and spread chaos and terrorism in the region.
"The Iranian interferences undermine de-escalation and peace efforts, and prolong the humanitarian crisis and suffering," he added.
At Hejazi's burial on Tuesday in Isfahan, Qaani said the current "resistance fronts in Iran, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and Yemen and resistance people make everyday a great stride in the face of enemies, including the US and Israel," according to the Iranian Mehr news agency.
Hejazi played "a key role in resistance fields outside the country," the Iranian general added.
