ADEN (Debriefer)--Angry protests erupted on Saturday in Yemen's interim capital Aden against long power outages.

Hundreds of people burned tires in streets and closed roads in the districts of Al-Mansura Craiter, Khormaksar and Attawahi.

They condemned long power outages in the fasting month of Ramadan and as the summer approaches.

The Public Electricity Corporation said power generation has been reduced in the city because of a shortage of fuel.

The local fuel stations will be shut down if diesel is not supplied urgently, it warned.

Basic services and security have largely deteriorated in Aden which is controlled by the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council.
