MARIB (Debriefer)--A number of Houthi fighters were killed and injured in an ambush by the forces of Yemen's internationally recognised government in west of Marib province late on Sunday night, the media centre of the armed forces said on Monday.
Vehicles of Houthis were destroyed and the government forces seized light and medium weapons and munitions, it said.
A Saudi-led coalition supporting the government launched 25 airstrikes in the districts of Sirwah and Madghal in the past 24 hours, pro-Houthi media outlets reported.
Observers said the intensified airstrikes come to weaken the Houthis who launched in February an offensive to seize the oil-rich Marib.
Marib is the last northern stronghold of the government which was ousted by the Iran-allied Houthi group in late 2014.
