Cairo (Debriefer) Egyptian military experts have arrived in Yemen to develop plans adopted by the Emirati-backed Giant Brigades (GB), private sources said Saturday.
The last few days saw the arrival of 7 Egyptian high-rank military experts in south Yemen in order to review GB troops plans, Al-Araby Al-Jadeed quoted the sources as saying anonymously.
The experts "exist in GB operation room," the sources added, hours after the GB announced withdrawal from districts taken from the Houthi group following fierce fighting in Shabwa and Marib.
Among their missions, the Egyptian experts are expected to develop plans used by Arab coalition troops to launch land attacks against Houthi sites and to secure vital areas, in coordination with the Saudi-led coalition command in Riyadh, the sources said.
This Egyptian intervention comes as part of Egyptian-Saudi rapprochement, and in attempt to end tension between Cairo and Abu Dhabi, according to the sources.
Riyadh promised to deposit US$ 3 billion into the Egyptian central bank by the end of last year, in order to help the regime honor its commitments and cope with economic crisis, the sources said.
An alliance of Gulf banks, including two Emirati banks, are prepared to lend US$ 2.5 billion to the Egyptian government, the sources added, apart from the new deposit promised by Abu Dhabi's crown prince.
During his recent visit to Abu Dhabi, the Egyptian president, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, was promised by Mohamed Bin Zayed that the central bank would receive a new deposit to revive the Egyptian economy.
The Egyptian diplomatic mission in Washington has recently played vital role in support of Riyadh and Abu Dhabi to convince the US administration into relisting the Houthis as terrorist group, Arab diplomat said.
The Egyptian mission is also in contact with the UN Security Council member states, to support the UAE after the recent strikes, and to issue a resolution condemning the Houthi attack against civilian areas, the diplomat added.
