Eight citizens were killed in the province of Taiz, south of northern Yemen, in air raids by the Saudi-led Arab Coalition, which is fighting in Yemen to support the legitimate government.

Yemen has been devastated by a five-year armed conflict by the government backed by the coalition and the Iran-backed Houthis.

More than 11.000 civilians have been killed and tens of thousands of others injured in the war. Millions have been displaced and tens of thousands have fled outside the country.

The coalition has been responsible for the vast majority of civilian casualties, according to the UN and international human rights organisations.

The conflict has caused what the United Nations calls the world's worst humanitarian crisis.

Local sources in Taiz province said that the Arab coalition fighter jets launched two air raids on a citizen house in the al-Ja'shena area located between the Khadir and al-Rahida districts , killing eight citizens, including women and children, in an initial toll.

Coalition warplanes launch air raids on Yemeni cities saying it is targeting Houthi weapons sites and weapons stores and drones. Some air strikes missed their targets and killed hundreds of civilians, prompting UN and international organizations to accuse the coalition of committing war crimes.

The government of the Houthis group (Andar Allah), which controls the Yemeni capital Sana`a, says that 15,359 civilians have been killed and 24,121 have been wounded by coalition warplanes airstrikes since March 2015.

More than 24 million people, more than 80% of the country's population, are in need some form of humanitarian or protection assistance, including 8.4 million people who don't know where their next meal will come from, according to the UN.

And there are nearly 2 million children suffering from acute malnutrition, the UN said.
