The senior leader of the Ansar Allah group (Houthis) and the head of the Prisoners' Affairs Committee of the group, Abdulqader Al-Murtada, revealed on Sunday evening the details of the agreement his group signed with the Yemeni internationally recognized government in the Jordanian capital, Amman.
Al-Murtada tweeted: Today, Sunday 16 February 2020, we signed with the other party to implement a first phase of the prisoner swap agreement in the Jordanian capital, Amman, led by UN.
Al-Murtada said that the agreement "includes the freeing of 1420 prisoners from both sides, and that the meetings will continue for the next two days to prepare and revise the final lists."
The United Nations Secretary-General to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, announced on Sunday evening that the Yemeni internationally recognized government and the Ansar Allah group (Houthis) have agreed on a detailed plan to conduct a "large-scale" prisoner exchange.
