Unknown gunmen on Monday assassinated a senior security officer of the Emirati-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) in the Yemeni southern port city of Aden.
Unknown armed men opened fire at the chief officer in charge of the eastern security checkpoints controlled by the STC's Security Belt forces, a security source in Aden said Sunday, without further details.
Abu Ra'ib al-Sa'adi was shot dead by gunmen in Dar Sa'ad district, eye witnesses said, before the assassins fled the scene.
