BAYDA (Debriefer)--The Houthi Group on Tuesday revealed the details of a recent massive military operation in Bayda province in central Yemen during which its forces allegedly killed, wounded and captured 250 operatives of Al-Qaeda and Daesh, destroyed 12 militant camps and seized large quantities of weapons.
Military spokesperson for the group, Yahya Sari'a, said in a statement they captured the district of Wald Rabi'a which had been controlled by the Takfiri groups of Al-Qaeda and Daesh.
Our military operation succeeded though the Saudi-led coalition intensified airstrikes against our forces and continued to support the two terrorist groups with weapons and funds, he said, praising the efforts of the tribes in the districts of Al-Qurashiah and Wald Rabi'a that helped drive militants out of the area.
More details of the operation will be revealed in coming days, he said.
Last week, the group said it captured the area of Yakla, the main stronghold of Al-Qaeda and Daesh in west of Bayda.
It published confessions of arrested militants who said they had been trained by Al-Qaeda and Daesh in Aden and Hadramout and then transferred into the area of Qayfah in the town of Rada'a, Bayda, to fight alongside Daesh against the Houthis.
Emir of Al-Qaeda Abu Suraymah and the group's financial officer in the area, a Pakistani known as Abu Hafs, were killed during the operation, it said, adding that remaining militants and leaders of the two groups escaped to Marib, Abyan, Shabwa and Lahj provinces.
Militants from foreign countries including Pakistan, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia and Egypt were among those killed, injured and captured during battles, Houthi media outlets said.
