Hodeida (Debriefer) - The Saudi-led 5-year-old military operations in Yemen have caused the Yemeni Red Sea ports corporation losses of US$ 2.16 billion, the corporation (YRSPC) said Monday.
In a statement, the Houthi-run YRSPC accused the Arab coalition of destroying the infrastructure of its (Hodeida, Salif and Mocha) ports, in "a systematic act aimed to paralyze the ports' functionality in serving the Yemeni people.
"Targeting and besieging the corporation's ports is violation of the international humanitarian law and conventions, war crimes, and crimes against humanity."
The YRSPC labeled the coalition's denying of oil tankers and other ships access, despite the permissions obtained from the UN Verification and Monitoring (UNVM) mission, as piracy.
Persistent detention of oil tankers will lead to disastrous consequences to all service sectors touching the people's life, mostly health, water, power and sanitation, the statement added.
It called for an end to restrictions imposed on access of commercial goods, oil and medicines to all Yemeni ports and crossings.
Yemen has been racked by an armed conflict that broke out after the Iranian-backed Houthis had ousted the internationally-recognized government late in 2014.
Yemen's 5-year war has pushed the country to the world's worst humanitarian crisis, according to the UN, with most of the population in need for a type of humanitarian aid and immediate protection.
