Mukalla (Debriefer) - The Emirati Hadhrami Elite forces on Sunday opened live ammunition at fury demonstrators protesting the bad public services in the Yemeni eastern governorate of Hadhramout.
The protestors blocked main streets in Mukalla, Hadhramout's provincial capital, and set fire to used wheels in protest of deteriorated services, mostly electricity and water.
"The campaigners threw stones at the Elite forces," local source told Debriefer, after the latter "intensely deployed and tried to disperse the protestors using live ammunition."
Hadhramout people complain unprecedentedly worsening public services, particularly water and power most needed in the hot, wet seasons in the governorate's coastal cities.
Some demonstrators were wounded, the source said, without details on how serious their injures were.
The Hadhrami Elite was formed in 2015 by the United Arab Emirates that used the Arab coalition's camps in Yemen to train these forces' personnel, all of whom are from Hadhramout.
