Taiz (Debriefer) - Eight civilians including women and children were injured by artillery shelling and snipers in the southwestern city of Taiz on Monday, after armed clashes renewed between the official government and the Houthi group.
"Some of the artillery shells were fired in the few last hours by Houthis positioned on Sofitel Hill, and fell onto populated quarters," local sources said, leaving 7 civilians wounded according to initial statistics.
The figure is expected to increase, due to the continuous shelling that focused on Taiz's northeastern quarters of al-Jomhouri, Camp and al-Thawra and the northern areas of Osaifira and Wadi al-Qadhi, the sources added.
In the southeastern quarter of Sala, one child was injured by a "sniper affiliated to the government troops," according to Houthi media.
Since Sunday evening, Taiz has been witnessing renewed confrontations pitting the official government against the Houthi fighters, after the city saw a period of peace in most of its fronts.
The two rivals used different medium and light weapons in the clashes that focused on the 40-meter Street north Taiz and al-Sabri Hill overlooking the 40-meter St.
