TAIZ (Debriefer)--Fierce clashes between forces of the internationally recognised government and the Houthi fighters continued for a second day in Yemen's Taiz province on Monday.
They were the fiercest in months, with both sides using various weapons, a local source said, pointing out that they coincided with blocking and burning tires on streets by armed groups.
On Sunday, the government forces said they recaptured positions from the Houthis in the 40th Street in north of Taiz city.
Tens of Houthi fighters were killed and injured and a number of their vehicles were destroyed in the battles, the defence ministry said in a statement on its website.
