ADEN (Debriefer)--The government said on Thursday its navy seized an Iranian ship while fishing illegally in Yemen's territorial waters.
The ship was seized off the eastern province of Mahrah, Fisheries minister, Fahad Kefayen, wrote on Twitter.
Nearly 200 Iranian vessels were detected fishing in Somali and Yemeni waters off the Yemeni archipelago of Socotra, in one of the world’s largest illegal fishing operations, Global Fishing Watch reported in June.
Iran has been taking advantage of the weak maritime security capacities of both countries to enter their waters and fish illegally, according to the website.
