RIYADH (Debriefer)--The Saudi ministry of energy said on Friday it brought under control a fire at a floating offloading platform which broke out after a Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen destroyed two unmanned boats carrying explosives launched by the Houthi group.
The platform belongs to the Jazan oil products terminal and the limited fire on its hoses caused no injuries or fatalities, the ministry said in a statement carried by the Saudi press agency. The attack occurred on Wednesday.
"Such criminal acts directed against vital facilities do not target the Kingdom alone, but they also target the security of oil exports, the stability of energy supplies to the world, the freedom of international trade, and the entire global economy," a source at the ministry said, according to the agency.
On Thursday, the coalition said it intercepted and destroyed five bomb-laden drones launched by the Houthi group towards Saudi Arabia.
The group has not commented on the boat attack.
It has recently threatened to take escalatory steps against the Saudi Kingdom, calling on foreign companies to leave as soon as possible and avoid presence near vital military and economic facilities. Such facilities are legitimate military targets, it said.
