Part of battles in Nihem- archive

SANAA (Debriefer)--Clashes between the forces of the internationally recognised government and the Houthi fighters flared up on Saturday in the district of Nihem east of Yemen's capital Sanaa, coinciding with intensified Saudi-led airstrikes against Houthi positions.

The government forces backed by tribal fighters fought fierce battles against the Houthis after repelling a massive assault against their positions, the defence ministry's information centre said.

They seized large quantities of weapons and munitions, it said.

A Saudi-led coalition fighting in support of the government launched airstrikes against Houthi positions and reinforcements in the district, destroying military vehicles and killing all fighters who were on them, it added.
