Aden - Sana'a (Debriefer) - The Yemeni official government on Friday warned against Houthi raid into the Haima area in the southwestern governorate of Taiz, reiterating calls to designate the group as a terrorist movement.
The ministry of legal affairs and human rights is anxiously following the Houthi persistent shelling of Haima with heavy artillery, killing seven civilians, injuring 11 others, displacing tens of families and abducting 8 children from their houses to hold them as hostages, the ministry said.
The Houthis seek to keep blockade on Taiz city and take revenge against its people with sectarian motives, it added in a statement carried by the Aden-based Saba.
Another raid would leave more civilian casualties, particularly women and children, and revenge acts and killings against the locals there, the statement warned.
Given these "terrorist acts and their awful impacts on civilians, we won't quit sticking to our calls for adding the Houthi group to the international terrorism list, and for deterrent measures to curb its terrorist acts," the ministry added.
According to the private Taiz Rights Center, the Houthi shelling victims raised to 9 deaths and 24 injuries, as well as 45 abductees including children.
The Houthis raided 63 houses, set fire to 3 of them, exploded 5 and damaged 13 others, the center added in a statement.
For its part, the Houthi group says its forces have carried out security campaign in search of radicals in the Haima area, east Taiz.
"Few people in the area are fulfilling an agenda that serves aggression countries, through bringing Qaeda militants into the area," the Houthi-run Saba claimed.
