Sana'a (Debriefer) - Yemen's Houthis condemn the US State Department's move designating the group as a foreign terrorist movement, member of the Houthi Supreme Political Council tweeted on Monday, noting that they are indifferent and preserve the right to respond.
"America is a source of terror and Trump administration's policy and actions are terrorist," Mohamed Ali al-Houthi added.
Trump administration's "policies reflect a problem in thinking, and this behavior is deplored."
The Houthi group "preserves the right to respond to any designation issued by Trump or any other administration, and it doesn't concern the Yemeni people, since it's actual accomplice in killing and starving them," he added.
"Advising the Congress to arrest those who stormed into the Capitol will achieve better result for Pompeo than advising it to designate Ansar Allah with the floating term 'terror'.
"It's your terror that killed and starved Yemen's children.
"We tell them neither the Security Council, the ten countries, nor any tyrant or arrogant power can terrify us, since we bear culture, vision, sprit and determination," the Houthi official added quoting his leader's words.
Earlier on Monday, the US Secretary of State said his department would advise the Congress to designate the Houthis as a terrorist group and to add Abdul Malik (their leader), Abdul Khaliq al-Houthi and Abdullah Yahiya al-Hakim into the global terrorists list.
These designations will provide additional tools to confront the Houthi terrorist activity, and they aim to hold the group responsible for its terrorist acts, including trans-border attacks threatening civilians, infrastructure and commercial shipping, Mike Pompeo added.
