Aden (Debriefer) - The Houthi group has shelled another camp for internally displaced persons in the Yemeni northeastern city of Marib, the official government said Tuesday, one day after similar charges of targeting the Sirwah-based al-Zawr IDP camp with ballistic and Katyusha missiles.
Houthi artillery bombed Thannah camp that hosts 700 families displaced from different provinces, information minister, Moammar al-Eryani tweeted.
On Monday, Eryani labeled the Houthi targeting of residential gatherings and IDP camps as a terrorist act and war crime, as the continuous shelling "poses real threat to the safety and life of more than one million IDPs who fled the group's crimes."
No immediate comment has been released by the Houthi group on the government's accusations of bombing IDP camps in Marib.
On Monday, the UN humanitarian chief expressed deep alarm at the recent escalation in Marib, warning against unimaginable humanitarian complications.
Any military attack on Marib will put some 2 million civilians in jeopardy and, then, will leave hundreds of thousands of people displaced, Mark Lowcock said.
The oil-rich governorate of Marib is witnessing fierce fighting between the national army and Houthi fighters for two weeks, amid international calls for de-escalation.
