Government forces reach strategic Mas military camp in Marib, says minister

MARIB (Debriefer)--Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism in Yemen's internationally recognised government Muammar Al-Eryani said the government forces backed by tribal fighters made big advances against the Houthi forces in the district of Madghal in the northeastern province of Marib.

The national army and the popular resistance repelled a massive Houthi assault in Madghal, inflicting heavy losses in personnel and equipment on the Houthis, he wrote on Twitter.

They have reached the strategic Mas military camp, he added.

Separately, military sources said the government forces repelled two Houthi attacks in the district of Nihem east of Sanaa province and in front lines in northwest of Marib.

Around 71 Houthi fighters were killed and 4 vehicles destroyed in the clashes, according to the sources.

A Saudi-led coalition fighting in the country targeted Houthi forces the province in support of the government forces, the sources said.

On the Hayd Al Ahmed front line in south Marib, the government forces and tribal fighters thwarted a Houthi infiltration attempt, the commander of the government forces in the Murad Mountain Brig. Gen. Hussein Al-Hulaysi said in a statement carried by Alarabiya TV.
