Hadhramout (Debriefer) - The Yemeni official government forces have opened fire at protesters in the southern city of Seyoun, a district of Hadhramout, the Southern Transitional Council (STC) said Monday.
Tens of the Emirati-backed STC supporters stage a rally in protest of bad services and decline in the national currency worsening the livelihoods and increasing the fuel prices.
The protestors stormed into the Seyoun local authority HQ, eyewitnesses said, as security forces used force to disperse demonstrators leaving casualties.
"The Seyoun-based first military region's forces used live bullets against the peaceful protests and civil disobedience led by the city's people in Monday morning," spokesman for the STC said in a statement.
Dispersing the protestors by force left a number of the youth injured, Ali al-Kathiri added, noting that other demonstrators were chased or detained.
Amid this "arrogance and obduracy in these occupation practices, we renew our full support for our people in Hadhramout Valley, and we'll save no effort to help them manage their districts and rescue them from the crimes of these military occupying forces that sponsor terrorism," he said.
