Taiz (Debriefer) - The Yemeni official government troops have retaken and seized strategic sites from the Houthi group in Haifan district, south the southwestern governorate of Taiz, Saba said Thursday.
The national army "fully combed and secured the strategic mountain of al-Jashe'a, Makhadera Hill and other sites" in the vicinity of Haifan, the Aden-based news agency quoted military sources as saying.
"Fighting left four Houthi elements killed and six others injured," the sources said, noting that the troops fended off a Houthi attack Madarat front (west Taiz) and inflicted "heavy human losses" to the attackers and burned one of their armed pickups.
The national army stepped up military operations against the Houthis and opened new fronts in Taiz governorate.
According to military sources, the army made relative gains in Haifan, Maqbana and Sabir Mont.
On 7 March, the government troops launched a massive military campaign aimed to lift blockade imposed by the Houthis on Taiz since 2015.
